Have you ever pondered over your failed relationship or marriage and thought of all the things you could have done in a different and better way?

The Huffington Post asked it's readers to share their biggest marriage regrets and they did. One reader said that she regretted settling for less than what she deserved, always justifying her husband's unacceptable behavior, and forgiving too many inexcusable things for the sake of their marriage.

The other commented that she regretted fighting for love even when her partner pushed her away, another said that they regretted entering a love-less marriage.

Not trying harder to work things out, rushing into marriage, not having separate bank accounts, marrying someone with a history of walking out and becoming complacent were also listed on the biggest marriage regrets.

सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना (मनसे) के प्रमुख राज ठाकरे और कांग्रेस उपाध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी केजरीवाल से पीछे हैं। दिवंगत शिवसेना प्रमुख बाल ठाकरे को भी ऑनलाइन ढूंढा गया, लेकिन इन नेताओं को इतना नहीं। सर्वेक्षण के अनुसार लोगों ने इंटरनेट पर मनसे प्रमुख राज ठाकरे पर उनके चचेरे भाई उद्धव ठाकरे से ज्यादा गौर फरमाया।

'Black Twitter' growing into online force

Black Twitter holds court on pretty much everything from President Barack Obama to the latest TV reality show antics. But Black Twitter can also turn activist quickly. When it does, things happen - like the cancellation of a book deal for a juror in the George Zimmerman trial, or the demise of Zimmerman's subsequent attempt to star at celebrity boxing.

Catchy hashtags are a hallmark and give clues that the tweeting in question is a Black Twitter thing.

"It's kind of like the black table in the lunchroom, sort of, where people with like interests and experiences, and ways of talking and communication, lump together and talk among themselves," said Tracy Clayton, a blogger and editor at Buzzfeed known on Twitter as (at)brokeymcpoverty.

Black Twitter is not a special website or a smartphone app. The hashtag (hash)blacktwitter itself won't necessarily lead you to it. It doesn't exactly stick out among the trending topics on Twitter, even though it's been known to cause a topic or two to trend. The Nokia X is the entry-level model in the family. The Nokia X+ offers more memory and storage. How to sort apps by name in iPad

You can manually rearrange the apps on the iPad's home screen pretty much any way you would like. If you just want to alphabetize all the programmes you have installed on the tablet yourself, there is a quicker way. Start by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen.On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side. The collection of General settings appears on the right half of the screen, so scroll down to Reset at the bottom of the list. Tap Reset and then tap "Reset Home Screen Layout." Google on Wednesday announced the availability of indoor maps in India. The company said that users of Google Maps on Android, iOS and personal computers can now access the floor plans of 75 places in 22 Indian cities.

Most of these 75 places are shopping malls but museums and convention halls also find a mention in the list. Similarly, while most of these places are located in big cities like Delhi and Mumbai, some buildings from Raipur and Ludhiana too are a part of the project.

गावात एक म्हातारी एकटीच राहते. तिला एकच मुलगी होती. तिचं लग्न होऊनही आता चाळीस वर्षं झाली. ती काही वर्षांपूर्वीच वारली आहे. आपल्या आईला भेटल्याशिवाय तिला चैन पडायचं नाही. शेतीची कामं संपली की ती आईकडेच राहायची. गावात तिची दीड एकर शेती आहे. ती शेती चुलत भावाला दिली. म्हातारीने बक्षीसपत्रच करून दिलं. आपल्या मुलीला तिनेदिलं नाही. तिला चांगल्या घरात दिलं आहे. त्याची मोठी शेतीवाडी आहे. ती दिसायला फारच सुंदर होती. तिला खूप ठिकाणांहून लग्नासाठीमागणी येत होती. गावात तशी त्याची दोन-चार घरं होती. म्हातारीचा नवरा सुतारकाम करायचा. मुलगी आईच्या पोटात असतानाच त्याचंनिधन झालं. त्या काळी गावात ताबडतोब उपचार होत नव्हते. पावसाळ्याचे दिवस होते. नदीला पूर आला की संपर्कच तुटायचा. गावातील तो चांगला कारागीर होता. बैलगाडी तयार करण्यातत्याचा हातखंडा होता. त्यातूनही शर्यतीची बैलगाडी त्याच्याशिवाय कोणी बनवीत नव्हता. त्याला लाकडाची फारच चांगली पारख होती. खूप लांबून सागवान आणायचा. त्याचं एक वैशिष्ट्यहोतं. तो फार काम घेत नसे. खूप मेहनत घेऊन बैलगाडी तयार करायचा. त्यासाठी त्याला खूप वेळ खर्च करायला लागायचा. त्याला मिळणारे पैसे आणि त्याला लागणारा वेळ याचं गणित बसायचं नाही. त्याची त्याला पर्वा नव्हती. त्याच्या मनासारखी जोवर बैलगाडी तयार होत नाही तोवर तो विकायचा नाही. त्याच्यापेक्षाकिरकोळ औजारांची दुरुस्ती करणारे जादा कमाई करीत होते. पूर्वी तर पैशाचा व्यवहार नव्हता. धान्यच मिळत होतं. पोटापुरतं मिळालं की त्यांना समाधान होतं. असा हा अचानक वारला. काय झालं त्याचं निदान काही झालं नाही. त्याच्या बायकोला माहेरी तसा आधार नव्हता. गावातील लोकांनी तिला आधार दिला. मुलीला कळू लागल्यावर तिने सुइणीचं काम सुरू केलं. तिची आई हे काम करीत होती. आईकडून तिला ही कला मिळाली नाही. गावालाही अशा एका सुइणीची गरज होती. त्या काळी आजच्यासारखे दवाखाने निघाले नव्हते. घरीच बाळंतपणं होत असत. गावातील बहुतांश बाळंतपणं तिने केली आहेत. गेली तीस-चाळीस वर्षं तरी हे काम ती करीत होती. तिला नवरा मेल्यावर आधार मिळाला. तिची एवढी प्रसिद्धीझाली. एखादं मूल जर आडवं आलं तर बाई बाळंतपणातच मरत होती. अशा अवघड प्रसंगीही तिने सुखरूप बाळंतपणं केली आहेत. गावातील मुलगी बाळंतपणासाठी तिच्यामुळं बाळंत होण्यास गावातच माहेरी येत होती. हातामध्येकला असल्याने तिला काही कमी पडलं नाही. मुलीचं लग्न तर गावानं पुढाकार घेऊनच केलं. आपली दीड एकर शेती तिने आपल्या भावकीतील मुलाला बक्षीस दिली. मुलीनेही तक्रार केली नाही. गावातील लोक तिला म्हणत होते, जोवर जिवंत आहेस तोवर तुझ्या नावावर असू द्या. तीबोलली, माझ्या डोळ्यांदेखत दिलं पाहिजे.आपला नवरा मेल्यावर ती दुःख करीत बसली नाही.कामातच तिचा वेळ जात होता. प्रत्येक घरातील बाळंतपणं तिने केली होती. त्यामुळं कुठल्याघरात ती परकी नव्हती. तिच्याविषयी सगळ्यांनाच आदर होता. तिच्या मुलीला वाटायचं, आपल्या आईला आपल्याकडे कायमच घेऊनजावं. ती कधीच आपल्या जावयांकडे गेली नाही. तेच तिला भेटायला यायचे. तिला काहीच कमी पडलं नाही. तिला भरपूर मिळत होतं. आपल्याला मिळालेला काही हिस्सा ती गावातील गरिबांना देऊन टाकायची. तिने साठा करून ठेवला नाही.म्हातारी आता थकली आहे. आता ती बाळंतपणंही करीत नाही. मुलगीही वारली आहे. ज्यांना तिनेशेती दिली तेही लक्ष देत नाहीत. सगळेच काही असे नाहीत. काहींना अजून जाण आहे. एक खंत आहे, तिनं जे केलं तेवढं प्रेम राहिलं नाही. आता पूर्वीपेक्षा गावात समृद्धी आली आहे. लोक हळहळतात. पुढे फार कमी होतात. तिला काय वाटत असेल, हा विचार आज कोणाच्याही मनात येतनाही.

कोको उत्पादनातील मुंग्यांच्या भूमिकेचा झाला अभ्यास

इंडोनेशियामध्ये कोकोचे उत्पादन मोठ्या प्रमाणात घेतले जाते. या कोकोच्या फळांच्यागोडव्यामुळे मुंग्या आकर्षित होतात. अनेक वेळा शेतकरी या मुंग्यांना हानिकारक मानून निर्मूलनासाठी प्रयत्न करतात. मात्र यातील स्थानिक मुंग्या कोको फळांच्या उत्पादनवाढीसाठी उपयुक्त असून, परदेशी मुंग्या फायटोप्थोरा बुरशीच्या प्रसारातून उत्पादन कमी करत असल्याचे दिसून आले आहे. अभ्यासाचे हे निष्कर्ष"प्रोसिडिंग्ज ऑफ दी रॉयल सोसायटी बी'मध्ये प्रकाशित करण्यात आले आहेत.स्थानिक मुंग्यांचा फायदा ः- इंडोनेशियामध्ये जर्मनी, इंडोनेशिया आणि स्वीडन येथील संशोधक मुंग्यांच्या समुदायाचे कोको उत्पादनातील नेमके कार्य आणि महत्त्व जाणण्यासाठी गेल्या काही वर्षांपासून संशोधन करीत आहेत.- जर्मनीच्या गोटिंगन विद्यापीठातील संशोधक अर्नो विलगोसस यांनी सांगितले, की मुंग्या आणि मिलिबग (पिठ्या ढेकूण) या किडीची सहजीवी भागीदारी असते. मिलिबग वनस्पतींचा रस व अन्नद्रव्ये शोषतात, त्यातील शर्करा काही प्रमाणात मुंग्यांना उपलब्ध होते. हे जरी खरे असले तरी तुलनेने फळांना अधिक हानी पोचवणाऱ्या (फळे पोखरणाऱ्या अळ्या आणि हेलोपेल्टिंस बग यासारख्या) अन्य किडींपासून स्थानिक मुंग्या कोको फळांचे रक्षण करतात.- त्यांच्या प्राथमिक निष्कर्षानुसार, स्थानिक मुंग्या (Dolichoderus) कोको झाडावर नसल्यास उत्पादनामध्ये 27 टक्के घट होत असल्याचे दिसून आले आहे.- मुंग्यांसाठी वापरलेल्या कीडनाशकांमुळे स्थानिक जातींच्या मुंग्यांचे प्रमाण कमी होऊन त्याचा फटका उत्पादनावर होतो.परदेशी मुंग्या ठरतात रोगवाहक- फिलिड्रिस या परदेशी मुंग्या फायटोप्थोराआणि अन्य रोगांच्या बुरशींचा प्रसार करण्यात मोठी भूमिका निभावतात. या मुंग्या फायटोप्थोरा रोगाने ग्रस्त असलेल्या कोको फळांच्या मिलिबगवर संरक्षक थर बनवितात. त्यातून या रोगांचा नव्या कोको फळांवर प्रसार होतो. फिलिड्रिस मुंग्या तंबूसारखी संरक्षक कवचाखाली राहत असल्याने कीडनाशकांपासून त्यांचा बचाव होतो.- या प्रयोगामध्ये परदेशी फिलिड्रिस मुंग्या (Philidris) कोको झाडावर सोडून त्यांच्या सान्निध्याचे परिणाम तपासण्यात आले. त्यामध्ये कोको उत्पादनात 34 टक्के घट आढळली.मुंग्यांच्या सरसकट नियंत्रणाची भूमिका चुकीचीइंडोनेशिया हा जगातील तिसरा मोठा कोको उत्पादक देश आहे. किडी आणि रोगांच्या प्रादुर्भावामुळे कोकोच्या उत्पादनामध्येमागील वर्षी मोठी घट आली होती आणि त्यामध्ये रोगांच्या प्रसारामध्ये मुंग्यांचा हातभार मोठा असल्याची शेतकऱ्यांची भावना होती. त्यामुळे स्थानिक मुंग्या आणि परदेशी मुंग्या असा भेद न करता मुंग्यांच्या नियंत्रणासाठी शेतकरी प्रयत्नशील होते. मात्र आता या संशोधनामुळेनियंत्रण पद्धतीमध्ये मुंग्यांच्या जातीचा भेद लक्षात घेणे आवश्यक ठरणार आहे.

संरक्षित सिंचनातून फुलली शेती आणिजीवनही

सिंचन प्रकल्पाची वानवा असलेल्या विदर्भातसंरक्षित सिंचनाचा छोटासा स्रोतही उत्पादकता वाढीचा मोठा पर्याय ठरत आर्थिक स्थैर्याचे निमित्त ठरू शकतो, याचा अनुभव वाशीम जिल्ह्यातील मुंगळा येथील शेतकरी"याचि देही याचि डोळां' घेत आहेत. गावालगत वाहणाऱ्या नाल्यावर कधीकाळी पंतप्रधान पॅकेजमधून बांधबंदिस्ती करण्यात आली. आज त्यात संकलित झालेल्या पाण्याने अनेकांची शेती व जीवनही फुलविले आहे.मालेगाव तालुक्याच्या ठिकाणापासून अवघ्या 17 किलोमीटर अंतरावर मुंगळा हे सुमारे आठ हजार लोकवस्तीचे गाव. आज गावाचा कायापालट कृषी विभागाच्या पुढाकारातून पंतप्रधान पॅकेजमधून घेण्यात आलेल्या सिमेंट नाला बांध व तत्सम कामांमुळे झाला आहे. गावापासून वाहणाऱ्या शेळकी व अन्य गावतलावांवर हे सिमेंट बांध घेण्यात आले. त्यात साठलेल्या पाण्यामुळे गावकुसातील पाण्याची पातळी वाढली. शेतीसाठीही या पाण्याचा उपयोग होत उत्पादकता वाढीचा अनुभव येथील शेतकरी घेत आहेत. शेळकी नाला हापावणेचार किलोमीटर क्षेत्रातून वाहतो. त्यावर साखळी पद्धतीने तब्बल 17 बांध बांधतपाणी अडविण्यात आले. गावतलावावरदेखील साखळी बंधाऱ्यांचा पॅटर्न असून, त्याअंतर्गत सुमारे पाच बांध घेण्यात आले. गावतलाव, तसेच शेळकी नाल्यावरील हे साखळी बांध घेण्याकामी सुमारे 60.38 लाख रुपयांचाखर्च त्या वेळी झाला. एकूण 22 बांधांच्या माध्यमातून दर वर्षी सुमारे 109.79 टीएमसी पाणी साठविले जाते. त्याचा विनियोग नाल्याकाठी शेती असलेल्या शेतकऱ्यांनी करीत आपल्या पीक उत्पादकता वाढीचे प्रयत्न चालविले आहेत. नाल्याच्या काठावर असलेल्या सुमारे 40 शेतकऱ्यांमार्फत डिझेल इंजिनच्या माध्यमातून या पाण्याचा उपसा केला जात आहे. संरक्षित सिंचनाच्या माध्यमातून शेतकऱ्यांनी तूर व हरभरा या पारंपरिक पिकांची उत्पादकता वाढविण्यास सुरवात केली आहे.थोडेसे प्रयत्न आणि मोठे क्षेत्र सिंचनाखालीविदर्भातील वाढत्या शेतकरी आत्महत्यांची दखल घेत पंतप्रधानांनी या भागातील शेती क्षेत्रात मूलभूत सुविधांच्या पूर्ततेसाठी लक्षावधी रुपयांच्या पॅकेजची घोषणा केली होती. त्याअंतर्गत जल 2006-2009 या कालावधीत कृषी विभागाच्या पुढाकारातून मुंगळा येथे सिमेंट नाला बांध घेण्यात आले. विदर्भातील अनेक ठिकाणी कामाचा दर्जा योग्य नसल्याच्या परिणामी, तर कोठे भ्रष्टाचाराचे पाणी मुरल्याने या सिमेंट बांधांचे अस्तित्व अल्प काळापुरतेच होते. मुंगळा येथील बांधाच्या कामाचा दर्जा योग्य राहिल्याने आजही त्यात पाणी साठत त्याचा उपयोग शेतकऱ्यांद्वारा केला जातो. उपविभागीय कृषी अधिकारी अनिल बोंडे, तालुकाकृषी अधिकारी संतोष वाळके, कृषी अधिकारी लक्ष्मण सावंत यांनी या पाण्याच्या वापरासाठी शेतकऱ्यांना प्रोत्साहित केले. एकट्या सिमेंट नाला बांधातील पाणीउपशामुळेआजमितीस सरासरी 122.37 हेक्टर क्षेत्र सिंचनाखाली आले आहे.शेततळ्यातूनही संपन्नतेकडेगावातील लता रामदास वायकर, इंदिराबाई तहकीक, गोपाल लाटे, श्रीहरी दत्तात्रेय नाईक यांनी शेततळे खोदून संरक्षित सिंचन बळकटीकरणाचे प्रयत्न केले. शेततळ्याकरिता शंभर टक्के अनुदानाची तरतूद शासनाने केली आहे. गावकुसात 49 विहिरी असून, त्यातील बहुतांश या नाल्याच्या काठावरच असल्याने या विहिरींतील पाण्याच्या पातळीतही वाढ नोंदविण्यात आली. गावातील 16 शेतकऱ्यांना राष्ट्रीय कृषी विकास योजनेतून 50 टक्के अनुदानावर पाणीउपशाकामी डिझेल-केरोसीन पंपवितरित करण्यात आले.मुंगळ्याचा "क्रॉप पॅटर्न'पावसाच्या पाण्यावर आधारित पीक पद्धती असल्याने मुंगळा भागात सोयाबीन व तुरीचे पीक घेतले जाते. मात्र रबी हंगामात ज्यांचे गहू घेण्याचे नियोजन असते ते सोयाबीनमध्ये तूरीचे आंतरपीक घेत नाहीत. गावाचे भौगोलिक क्षेत्र 2972.02 हेक्टर असून, त्यातील वहितीखाली 2270 हेक्टर आहे. सरासरी 200 हेक्टरवर संत्र्यांचीदेखील लागवड या भागातहोते. गावालगत लघू प्रकल्पाचे, तसेच विहिरीसारख्या संरक्षित सिंचनाचे पर्याय पिकांना पाणी देण्यासाठी उपयोगी आणले जातात. शासकीय योजना प्रामाणिकपणे राबविल्यास त्याचे दूरगामी चांगले परिणाम अनुभवता येतात. याचाच आदर्श मुंगळा येथील उदाहरणावरून दिसून येतो.प्रतिक्रिया..""माझी शेळकी नाल्याच्या काठावर अडीच एकर शेती आहे. या नाल्यावर सिमेंट बांध घेण्यात आल्याने पाणी साठते. नाल्याच्या पाण्यामुळे शेततळ्याला आधार होईल, या भावनेने वीस बाय वीस मीटर आकाराचे शेततळे राष्ट्रीय कृषी विकास योजनेतून घेतले. नाल्यामध्ये जलसंचय झाल्याने माझ्या शेततळ्यातही पाण्याची पातळी वाढते, असा प्रत्येक वेळचा माझा अनुभव आहे. नाल्यातील पाण्याचाही संरक्षित सिंचनकामी उपयोग केलाजातो. त्यामुळे हरभऱ्याची उत्पादकता दर वर्षीच्या एकरी पाच क्विंटलवरून आठ क्विंटलपर्यंत पोचली आहे. पिकाला आवश्यकता असेल त्या वेळी पाण्याची सोय करता आली तर हेशक्य होते.''- मधुकर विश्राम तहकीक, मुंगळा""शेळकी नाल्याच्या काठावर माझी साडेपाच एकर जमीन आहे. त्यात दर वर्षी जिरायती पिके घेण्याशिवाय पर्याय नव्हता. शेतात विहीर असूनही विजेचा पर्याय नसल्यामुळे त्यातील पाण्याचा उपसा शक्य होत नव्हता. विहीरदेखीलएकदा उपसा केल्यानंतर तळ गाठायची. त्यामुळेहरभऱ्याचे उत्पादन जेमतेम एकरी तीन क्विंटल मिळायचे. बांधामुळे नाल्यात पाणी साठू लागले. परिणामी, विहिरीची पातळी वाढली.त्यातील पाण्याचा उपसा करण्याऐवजी नाल्यातील पाण्याचा उपसा करण्यावर भर दिला आहे. आता पिकाची उत्पादकता योग्य व्यवस्थापनातून तीन क्विंटलवरून सात क्विंटलवर गेली आहे. संरक्षित सिंचनामुळे हे शक्य झाले. पाणीउपसाकामी लागणारे डिझेल इंजिन आम्ही शेतकरी आवश्यकतेनुरुप एकमेकाला देतो. तासाला सरासरी एक लिटर डिझेल पाणीउपसा करतेवेळी खर्च होते. हा खर्च वाढीव उत्पादकता व त्यातून होणाऱ्या अर्थार्जनाच्या तुलनेत जास्त नाही.''- गोविंदा ग्यानुजी वायकर""शेळकी नाल्यालगत माझी साडेतीन एकर जमीन आहे. या क्षेत्रावर रब्बी हंगामात गहू, खरिपात तूर यासारखी पिके घेतो. संरक्षित सिंचनाकरिता मी कृषी विकास योजनेतून शेततळे घेतले आहे. नाल्यालगत शेती असल्यानेया शेततळ्यातील जलसंचय उपशानंतरही कमी होत नाही, असा अनुभव आहे. त्यामुळे रब्बी हंगामातील पिकाच्या पाण्याची सोय करणे शक्य झाले. पिकाच्या एका संरक्षित सिंचनाचीसोय झाल्यास उत्पादकता वाढते, असा माझा अनुभव आहे. सरासरी दोन ते तीन क्विंटलची उत्पादकता गरजेच्या वेळी पाणी दिल्यास निश्चित वाढीस लागते.''

Samsung, Oracle and Flipkart top employers at IITs in 2013

Where is the country's top engineering talent heading to in a year of subdued hiring? Samsung, Reliance Industries (RIL), Oracle andFlipkarttopped the hiring charts for the class of 2014, according to data from the topIITsat the end ofthe first phaseofthis placement season.With 271 offers, almost a 100 more than the second-largest recruiter,Samsungis the clear winner so far. This number includes 69pre-placement offers(PPOs) and 28 postings in Korea.The South Korean conglomerate has ramped uphiring numbers by as much as 71% from 158 last year, emerging as the biggest recruiter atthe IITsso far. It had made 23 international offers last year."We focused on campus hiring formultiple reasons— strengthening our core competency in embedded computing and buildiSamsung, RIL, Oracle and Flipkart top employers of IIT graduates this yearng new skills/capabilities in UX design, enterprise software and data analysis," said a Samsung spokesperson in a written response to ET. Out of 243 candidates selected for India, 211 are from software engineering and 19 from UX design.RIL, another regular recruiter, made 177 offers, lower than last year's 202. Students have been taken on in the roles of graduate engineer trainees (GETs)."Other than some 45 PPOs, RIL has hired 132 students from 8 IITs - Delhi, Bombay, Roorkee,Kharagpur, Guwahati, Madras, Kanpur and IITBHU. In addition to this, Reliance Jio hired 5 GETs, one from IIT-Hyderabad and 4 from IIT-Indore," said a Reliance Industries spokesperson in a written response.These numbers reflect hiring at the end of the first phase of the placement season in which roughly 50-60% of the batches have been placed across IITs. The second phase will start in the first week of January and will cover the remaining students.Tech major Oracle was another big recruiter, taking on close to 135 students across almost all IITs. While its overall campus hiring numbers remained fairly consistent over the last three years, it made a few US-based offers for the first time this year."Oracle has a number of different business groups internally and we hire students across a variety of positions.Many students will join Oracle, working in product development roles across our hardware, software or industry-specific based groups," said a company spokesperson.E-commerce major Flipkart, as reported earlierby ET, has been a big draw at the IITs during the first phase of placements. The company increased hiring from around 100 last year to 118. "Campus hiring is strategic for us. It helps us identify and bring new talent," Sachin Bansal, co-founder, Flipkart, told ET."Past experience has shown us that talent from tier-I colleges like the IITs andIIMsand the waythey meet the challenges posed by a high-growth environment like ours has beenremarkable-- and a great fit for an organisationlike Flipkart that stresses on ownership and innovation," added Bansal.Several other companies emerged as strong recruiters, according to hiring data from six of the older IITs at Bombay, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee, Kanpur and Guwahati.Business process outsourcing companyEXL Service, for instance, made 97 offers across 7 IITs this year compared to just 46 across 5 IITs last placements. The increase in the number of campus hires in the roles of consultants and analysts is to power the company's analytics business, which has been growing at more than 30% for the last few years.
